Victoria Bennett-Salvador

BA (Hons) Digital Marketing student

What type of projects did you get involved with during the first and second year of the course?

Victoria Bennett-Salvador profile

In the first year, the majority of the projects were focused around personal development, presentation skills and a key focus on learning different strategies that will be undoubtedly used throughout our career. My favourite module in first year was the Adidas creative brief, allowing us to expand creatively and for me, pinpointing my interest in fashion marketing. As we moved into second year, over summer, we did a module with the BBC and really got to grips with industry requirements, setting the standards as we went into third year.

What has been the most fun or interesting project or activity you have been involved with?

I was blessed with the opportunity to go to Romania with SteamHouse to undertake a project on social challenges. It proved to me that when creatives collaborate together, working towards a solution, we can truly make the change we want to see. Plus I got to socialise and learn from master students on a variety of courses, expanding my knowledge on post graduation options.

What trips have you been on so far, and what did you do on them?

The School put on a conference this year: Forward 2020. It brought together current industry creatives and students, giving us the opportunity to ask those pressing questions of how to break into the industry, the journey of the big time businesses and getting some cool connections on LinkedIn!

Have you had any opportunities to work with people from the digital marketing industry?

I had the opportunity to work with Hunterlodge in my first year, which I think changed the way I looked at university work. It hit home, the reality that we start building our portfolios from the moment we step through university doors. And the way this course is structured, I will have a blossoming portfolio by the time I graduate, increasing my chances of getting into a graduate job.

What do you enjoy most about your course?

For me, the lecturers make the course. I am lucky enough to have some of the most engaged, caring and honest lecturers, who make the most of the class time, are creative in their teaching and truly show they want you to succeed.

What one piece of advice would you give to a student about to start your course?

Bring your uniqueness to the table, after all, we all have a unique selling point and this course will help you find and develop it.
