Giving back

As a valued member of our alumni community, there are a range of ways you can give back to the university and support our community of students, staff and alumni.

Hire BCU talent

With the range of skills taught across our courses at BCU, we’re confident that hiring our students or graduates is the right move for your organisation, and our Careers+ team can help find the right people for your company without the costly fees of a recruitment agency.

With our online jobs board, all you have to do is register your organisation and upload your vacancies as they become available.

Provide opportunities

If you aren’t looking to fill a vacancy, you could consider offering a placement or internship role for a talented student eager to put their skills into practice. Internships or placements can last any time up to twelve months depending on course requirements, meaning they are ideal for both short-term and long-term projects.

Become a mentor

Our professional mentoring programme links BCU students approaching the end of their course with working professionals to give them valuable insight into their chosen career path.

As well as being a hugely rewarding experience, being a mentor can help you to spot future talent, build your CPD and promote corporate social responsibility at your organisation.

All you need is over two years professional experience and five hours availability over a 10-week period.

Engage with our community

Our alumni often come back to campus to speak to our community about their experiences after graduation.

For example, you could come back to campus to speak to our prospective students and applicants at an Open Day, share your experience with current students at a careers event or network with other graduates at one of our alumni events. No matter how much time you have to offer, we can work with you to ensure your contribution has a significant impact on our community.

Inspire the future generation

Share how BCU shaped who you are today with school and college-age students. You could deliver a talk in a school, on our campus, or be interviewed virtually at one of our many events. If you’re keen to inspire young people and raise aspirations through sharing your life and career journey with them, get in touch with us today: Alumni@bcu.ac.uk

Tell your story

By telling your story about life after graduation, you can help to paint a picture of the opportunities on offer beyond BCU.

We love to hear the stories of our alumni community who are striving to achieve their goals and transform lives and it can often lead to other opportunities to engage with BCU.

Our I AM BCU stories allows us to share your experience with our community to inspire others, so if you’d like to tell your story, we’d love to hear from you.

Words of Wisdom

Remember your final months at BCU? Exams, dissertations and final projects can be a daunting time for students. This year, we’re looking for your Words of Wisdom to share with those following in your footsteps and give them a boost of confidence from BCU graduates in the Alumni Community.

Send us an encouraging note for us to share with final-year students on screens across campus, on social media and in newsletters. Submit yours today!
