A Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (RBC) alumnus has won the Celebrating Culture and Heritage Award at the Northamptonshire Community Foundation Awards for A Home for Harmony, a community-focused musical play for young children. Tristan Jackson-Pate, who graduated from RBC with a BA (Hons) in Acting in 2010, joined People’s Theatre Collective initially as an actor and became Artistic Director in 2015, a role he continues to hold.

Graduate and marketing entrepreneur Olivia Mae Hanlon has been named Birmingham City University’s Alumna of the Year. Olivia, who graduated with a degree in Psychology and Criminology in 2019, is the founder and CEO of Girls in Marketing, a community-led platform she launched shortly after university.

A Product and Furniture Design graduate has won the prestigious Design Award at the New Furniture Makers Exhibition. Reuben Porter, who graduated from BCU in 2025, secured first place in the Young Furniture Makers Design Category of the New Furniture Maker Awards for his contemporary reinterpretation of the classic machinist chair, Archetype – M.

Three Computing graduates returned to campus last month to talk to students about their experiences since leaving university to now in the ever-changing industry that is Computer Science. We sat down with them to reflect on their journeys. 

A School of Jewellery graduate has returned to Birmingham 30 years after completing her studies to exhibit her solo show at Vittoria Street Gallery.

Here at BCU, we’re incredibly lucky to have such a broad range of graduates. Whether it’s competing in an Amazon Prime series or developing new rides for Merlin’s UK theme parks, it’s been another action-packed year for our alumni. Check out some of our personal highlights! 

Emily Brookes, who graduated from BCU with a BA (Hons) Fashion Design in 2025, is a contestant in Amazon Prime’s six-part series, RE/style. 

BCU Alumna Michelle Singer, who graduated with a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature in 2000, went from writing for the campus newspaper, Deuce, to creating a major production studio. 

Samuel Ojo, who graduated with a postgraduate degree in Visual Communication in 2024, recently scored the exciting new role. 

“OBELISK” is a photographic documentation of the S kateboarding Olympians and their journey to the 2024 Paris Olympics.  

“Fighting from Home” will honour reserved occupations from World War II .
