Why study abroad?

There are tonnes of reasons to study abroad for a semester or during your summer break, find out just a few of the benefits that come with living in a different country.

Where can I go?

When it comes to studying abroad, the world really is your oyster. Why not take the opportunity to experience a country you've always wanted to visit?

Some of our partnerships are course specific, so exchanges may not be possible for all degree programmes. Places are limited and subject to an application process. Places also depend on the subject and level you are studying.

Funding your time abroad

Each year, the university receives funding from the Turing scheme to support students studying and working abroad. The Turing Scheme is the UK’s global programme for studying and working abroad, and offers students once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for personal and professional development.

Exchange programmes

An exchange programme lasts for one semester at one of our partner universities across the globe. You will have the opportunity to obtain credits which are then recognised by BCU.

We have exchange opportunities in Europe, USA, Mexico, Australia, South Korea and many more! Please note that your academic study pathway will determine these destinations.

Summer programmes

Each year, the University offers several places for BCU students to volunteer or study overseas at our partner institutions/organisations during the summer.

You can gain the same benefits from short-term programmes as with longer-term semester or full-year exchange. This could be the perfect option for you if you've never been abroad or don't want to spend too long away from home but still want an exciting study abroad experience. In previous years, our students have been to Europe, Brazil, China, Brunei, India, Mexico, South Korea, and Taiwan.

All students are eligible to apply.
