5 Reasons to study abroad

There are tonnes of reasons to study abroad for a semester or during your summer break, find out just a few of the benefits that come with living in a different country.

1. Become more employable

More and more employers now actively seek students with international experience of studying abroad. Having a new perspective on different cultures, language skills and a willingness to try new things will certainly enhance your CV!

2. Stand out from the crowd

Studying abroad as part of your degree is a fantastic way to differentiate you from the rest. It will demonstrate you are open-minded, independent and can adapt to new surroundings.

3. Experience the world

Studying abroad gives you the opportunity to travel and see the world. You'll not only experience a new country, its food, customs and traditions but will also have the chance to travel through other parts of the world while you’re away!

4. Make new friends

One of the best things about studying abroad is all of the friends you will make while you’re there! Going through this experience with others in the same position as you will create a unique bond and give you the opportunity to visit them again all over the world in the future!

5. Learn a language

What better way to learn a new language than to immerse yourself in a new culture? You’ll be exposed to the language on a daily basis and as well as having the chance to learn it in an educational or professional setting.

Exchange programmes

An exchange programme lasts for one semester at one of our partner universities across the globe. You will have the opportunity to obtain credits which are then recognised by BCU.

We have exchange opportunities in Europe, USA, Mexico, Australia, South Korea and many more! Please note that your academic study pathway will determine these destinations.

Summer programmes

Each year, the University offers several places for BCU students to volunteer or study overseas at our partner institutions/organisations during the summer.

You can gain the same benefits from short-term programmes as with longer-term semester or full-year exchange. This could be the perfect option for you if you've never been abroad or don't want to spend too long away from home but still want an exciting study abroad experience. In previous years, our students have been to Europe, Brazil, China, Brunei, India, Mexico, South Korea, and Taiwan.

All students are eligible to apply.
