What have been your career highlights so far?

Winning the BAFTA Craft Award and D&AD Gold for ‘Best Ident’ for BBC2 a long, long time ago in a galaxy far away… And then seeing one of my students get a job with the same team at BBC Creative in 2017.

What is your favourite thing about working at Birmingham City University?

Working with awesome industry professionals and talented young people at the same time.

How did you come to your current role?

I started as a journalist, but wanted to be more creative and found my way into the in-house teams that made all the on-air marketing assets for big broadcast brands: BBC, ITV, Al Jazeera and lots more around the world.

What are your specialist areas of expertise?

Branded content creation and development.

What are your research interests?

Keeping up to date with digital trends in advertising and marketing communications.

What can prospective students look forward to most when they join your course?

Meeting and working with people who are passionate about their profession.

What are your top tips for students thinking about joining your course?

You have to want to communicate. Everything else will follow.

Why do you think it’s important to study an MA?

Our degree programmes give our students the keys they need to unlock the possibilities they have chosen to pursue.
