Balvinder graduated in 1993 with a degree in Accountancy and worked as a trainee accountant. In 1995 he trained as a teacher, qualifying in 1996 and gaining qualified teacher status (QTS) teaching A-levels in sixth form. Having obtained a MBA with a specialism in finance, led him to develop professional level accountancy courses and teaching finance modules on the higher educational courses.
His role developed into the International Programmes Coordinator, before re-joining the higher education courses in 2012 at a large Further Education College.
Balvinder joined Birmingham City University in 2015 and currently teaches the Finance and Corporate Governance modules on the MSc Internal Audit, Governance and Risk Management and Risk Response and Risk Leadership on the MSc Risk Management and helping the faculty develop its higher and degree apprenticeship courses. Balvinder is the Program Leader of Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship and MSc Insurance and Risk Management and is on a number of Trail Blazer standards helping to develop new apprenticeship standards.
