My Three Favourite Things in Birmingham

Hi I'm Katie, and I'm currently studying Marketing. Below, I've written a little something about three of my favourite places to go in the city!

The Mailbox

I enjoy going to The Mailbox for food and drinks. It's right on the canal so it's a really different part of the city centre to visit. There are barge boats that go up and down the canal and you can walk all the way along it. I also like looking around all the designer shops inside it, Harvey Nichols in particular, and eating in the restaurants and bars.

It's often quieter than the shops and restaurants in the city centre as it's slightly out of the main area which I like. Its sophistication means visitors to this shopping centre dress up, so it's a good excuse to wear something nice! I like to bring my friends and family here when they come to visit.

The Bullring

The Bullring shopping centre is where I go to do shopping. It has a wide range of shops both inside and out so there are lots of places to choose from to get new things, so many more than where I'm from in Devon!

I love the Missguided outlet in Selfridges and Forever 21 for going shopping with friends. There's even a Krispy Kreme factory that makes fresh doughnuts too. I usually go here after uni with my course mates or at the weekends with friends.

Bodega

Bodega is a restaurant and cocktail bar located towards the town hall. In this area there are lots of older stone buildings so it's a little different again from the modern centre. I love the cocktails here and they do a cocktail happy hour which is great for students! I also love to come here for their authentic nachos which are so tasty and come in a big portion.

They serve Mexican food so it's a nice change from my usual uni cooking.  I recently came here with my course mates to celebrate the end of our exams and our first year at Birmingham City University.
