Message from Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences

Biomedical Sciences - BSc (Hons)

Hi, my name is David Lee and I am the Biomedical Sciences course leader here at Birmingham City University (BCU).

I have been at BCU since 2016, designing the degree programme and continuing my research in the broad subject area of microbiology. You can find out more about me here.

With the start of uni just around the corner, I am sure that you are excited, but naturally a little apprehensive as well, so I have put together this short message to help make your transition into uni life as smooth as possible.

We have an exciting Welcome Week planned, where information about the course, societies and the other activities that are run by the university will be available. During the first few weeks of October, as the teaching on the Biomedical Sciences programme gets started, we will also be encouraging our students to engage in the University Graduate+ scheme.

Before you start uni in September, there are some things that you can do to prepare for studying a Biomedical Sciences degree programme...

To refresh your biology knowledge, there are some excellent video lectures on all aspects of Biology through the Khan academy. Also, there are some excellent short courses on the Future Learn website, which provide excellent introductions to many aspects of the Biomedical Sciences subjects.

Finally, enjoy the summer holiday, and myself and the Biomedical Sciences programme team very much look forward to welcoming you in September!

If you have any questions in the meantime please drop me an email and I will do my best to help.
