Primary and early years partnerships – information for schools
Head of School's Welcome
"Dear School Colleagues,
As Head of the School of Education at Birmingham City University, I would like to welcome you as valued partner in the delivery and support of initial teacher training. Your support as a placement host, mentor and supporter is invaluable in ensuring that our trainees get a first-class experience on their route to QTS. We hope that our trainees are able to add value to your school or college while they are with you and that they really become a part of your school community.
We very much run our partnership as a true collaboration between the School of Education and our partners - bringing benefit to both parties. Whether you are an individual school, a college, a Teaching School Alliance or a School Direct partner - we hope to work with you to develop the teachers of the future.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, queries or feedback.
We are always happy to hear from you. We are also here to help you with any training or staff development needs you may have - just give our partnership office a call and we will be happy to discuss this."
Professor Kevin Mattinson, Executive Dean and Head of School of Education and Social Work
“Over the years we have built a great working relationship with BCU. Class teachers have thoroughly enjoyed the mentoring role developing their understanding of supporting trainee teachers. Help is always on hand when needed from our UT. A lot of our staff are ex BCU trainees who are now making a real impact on teaching and learning.” Jennifer Rogman, Deputy Headteacher, Annie Lennard School.
