Zoe Dudley

Law with Criminology - LLB (Hons)

Zoe was confused about what she wanted to study and where. At first, Zoe chose another university, but hours after moving into halls she felt wrong being so far away from home. Now she is at BCU and she feels much more at home. Zoe loves her course in Law with Criminology and gets the support she needs, enabling her to manage the demands of both study and part-time work.

After primarily focusing on science in her A-level studies , Magdeline wanted to pursue a career in pharmacy, but circumstances led to her changing direction. While researching her options for university, she looked into criminology, and this resulted in her applying to BCU. However, after further research, she found that law was also an area with exciting career prospects. After calling up BCU, the Admissions team allowed her to switch onto our Law with Criminology degree. Magdeline is now flourishing in her new-found interests and in the supportive community of staff and students on her course.

The community at BCU really stood out for Asim. He struggled with the independent study initially, but the communal study areas and a supportive group of friends have helped him to find the right balance between social activities and academic work.

Legal Practice Course - Solicitor, advocate, and founder of Regan Peggs Solicitors

Regan joined BCU in 1998 to study an undergraduate Law degree. He then went on to study a postgraduate qualification with us, which set him up for a truly successful legal career. Regan now has his very own solicitors’ practice and is thriving within the profession.

Dhanusha was motivated to study Law at Birmingham City University after her father, who had been a victim of fraud, lost his case. The incident gave her a strong desire to uphold justice. Despite facing a language barrier, her academic tutors have more than readied her for the world of law, preparing her to help people just like her father.

Georgia Cartwright

Georgia dreams of being a top lawyer. Having to balance her university life with providing regular care for her disabled mother isn’t easy, but supporting her family is the driving source behind Georgia’s success. As the first in her family to go on to higher education she has always wanted to dedicate her life to giving a voice to those who need to be heard. She feels that BCU has allowed her to flourish and grow as a person. Despite her busy schedule, Georgia is on track for a first class degree having achieved the highest grades in her year group.

Nafisa had originally planned to study psychology, but something didn’t sit right with her and her interests. So, she asked to switch courses. Now, two and a half years down the line, Nafisa is flourishing on our Law with Criminology degree and already feels ready to tackle her chosen profession.

Going to university was something Mercedes had always known she was going to do. However she didn’t expect to start working towards a career in law until a sudden change in circumstances. Now, she’s a Visiting Lecturer in the School of Law, while studying for her LLM in International Human Rights.

Jemma was specifically interested in criminal law before coming to university, and, thanks to BCU, she is able to study a Law with Criminology degree with us, which has enabled her to undertake a professional placement with the WMP (West Midlands Police).
