Lydia Lin

Lydia Lin Logo For me jewellery is a form of nature. I like nature very much. I like to find and discover lines in nature, especially in the water and the waves. I have been very afraid of water since my childhood, but I am still obsessed with it, especially the graphic refractions in water. Water ripples changing and splashes of water caused by hitting on water are special for my work. I analyse and develop those broken and twisted lines and regard water ripples as a kind of graphic or a kind of texture.

The most important part of a work is its appearance, with the feeling of water flowing, which can be expressed well with thin metal. While the combination of metal and non metallic materials makes works more diverse and brings different textures. I use copper nitrate and green patina. Technology application is very important and can express blue-green colours close to real nature. Outside single metallic colour makes an obvious contrast with inside colour tones, echoing each other.

The final product is a set of diverse Jewellery, which can be worn separately but also combined together. This is the product designed by designer and it is expected that people can create their own unique way of wearing it.

I hope the product can stimulate wearers’ passion for Jewellery while they are wearing it. They can make second creations of my designed Jewellery. The design of the work will focus on the unity of all Jewelries and make their combination more beautiful and matching with each other in a better way.
