Vanessa Poon

Vanessa Poon is a concept jewellery designer and maker. In her collections, she is highly motivated by concepts, from where she deeply researches into topics such as: eating disorders, acne and stress, and applies her knowledge into her work in order to express and explain the topic to the audience. Her work primarily merges fine art, product design and jewellery together.

Vanessa’s graduate collection of sculptural wearables explores the topic of acupressure, a form of ancient massage therapy, the large scale metal sculptures act as a map and educational object, guiding the wearer to locate pressure points on the body. The pressure points are focused on helping to relieve headaches, neck and back pain which will reduce stress and relax the body and mind altogether. Her intention is to reduce stress levels of individuals, where she introduces massage therapy as a recommendation.

Each piece is built with gilding metal rods to create the structure of the sculptural wearables and have been finished off with powder coating to add an element of colour.
