Carolyn Johnson

Carolyn’s work is inspired by the distress and ecological tragedy found in both urban and natural environments. She is particularly interested in the juxtaposition between the increasingly industrialised world and the Earth’s rapidly depleting natural habitats.

Deforestation, particularly wild fires and clear cutting, are currently the key focuses that motivate Carolyn to create art jewellery that communicates these growing environmental concerns and resonate with the viewer. Her work aims to go beyond a purely decorative purpose and inspire contemplation.

Carolyn uses both base and precious metals combined with a variety of reclaimed wood to articulate a sense of narrative behind her designs. Through the use of a muted colour palette, she aims to capture the stark, destroyed landscapes of growing industrialisation.
