Sophie Jackson

Sophie is a developmental psychologist with an interest in language and cognitive development and the interplay between the two. Sophie joined Birmingham City University as a Psychology Lecturer in May 2022. Sophie is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has taught in HE since 2015. Prior to joining BCU Sophie has taught at the University of Derby, the University of West London, and the University of Roehampton. Sophie is also an External Examiner at CU Coventry. Sophie completed her PhD at the University of Roehampton in 2020 examining Theory of Mind as a longitudinal predictor of reading comprehension in children aged 3-6 years. Sophie continues to research in this area with a focus on exploring relations between reading and language and cognitive skills across the lifespan. Sophie also holds an MSc in Developmental Psychopathology from Durham University, and a BSc in Psychology from Bangor University.
