Dr Drennan is a biopsychologist who has a particular interest in the nature of stress and how physiological processes impact individual emotions, cognitions and subsequent coping strategies.
This interest has generated a teaching and research portfolio involving quantitative research methods exploring psychopathology, chronic health conditions, developmental disorders, types of stressor, maladaptive coping behaviours, belief systems, anomalous phenomena, post-traumatic stress, post-traumatic growth, resilience and statistics. Dr Drennan has applied experience as a research assistant in the USA, a civilian with the UK police, a support worker, a statistician and is the Deputy Chair of the Psychology Research Ethics Committee.
