Gary O'Grady

Before joining the University, Gary worked for many years as a Senior Clinical Nurse in emergency care both in the Midlands and the North West of England. During this time, he developed particular expertise in the care of the acutely and critically ill patient, patients suffering from musculoskeletal trauma and the evolving technologies that support health care staff in the treatment of these patients. A predominant aspect of his role in the clinical area was the education and support of student and newly qualified nurses and medical staff.

Gary supports the view that the nurse involved in emergency care should adopt a holistic approach to this challenging specialty in order to be able to deliver safe effective care across the spectrum of health needs. This outlook and the extensive clinical experience that he has acquired means that Gary is ideally placed to support nursing and other health care students with regards to their educational and clinical development.
