Claire has a clinical background in Neuroscience Nursing. She enjoys working across different areas relating to both medical and surgical nursing skills but has a keen interest in trauma, high dependency and acute care.

Claire worked her way through nursing roles from a health care assistant 15 years ago, undertaking her nursing degree here at BCU. Since qualifying Claire has been a ward sister across the Neurosciences department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, as well as a clinical educator. These roles have allowed her to support students, as well as mentors, in clinical practice and support the development of knowledge and skills across nursing teams.

Claire joined BCU in January 2020 and currently is cohort lead for the Future Nurse Curriculum as well as supporting a number of post registration courses. Claire is passionate about nursing and supporting nurses to develop their skills, knowledge and capabilities from the first to the last day of their careers.

Claire is also a doctoral student at BCU with a research interest of student belonging.
