Chantelle Waite

Chantelle graduated as an Adult nurse from the University of Birmingham in 2005. Chantelle’s first nursing role was in acute renal dialysis at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This role gave her many skills such as HD, HDF, PD, APD dialysis, plasma exchange and ABOi treatment. She then went on renal rotation and practiced in all areas of renal care. Her experience ranged from medical and surgical nursing within renal, transplantation, high dependency and then renal research. She later went on to manage a chronic dialysis unit, within her local area. Chantelle has dedicated her career for the care of renal patients and has had many opportunities to work alongside other specialties through this role. Her time within research, gave her the opportunity to collaborate with professionals nationally and internationally. She has led many research studies while working as a research nurse and focused her project management on transplantation. She created a training program to help healthcare professionals understand research and to take an active role in research activity. During her career she has had experience in teaching, mentoring and assessing other nurses and student nurses, which was a great joy to her and sparked her interest in higher education.

While she was practicing as a nurse, she was given the opportunity to complete her Masters at Birmingham City University and qualified as an integrative psychotherapist in 2010. She had a particular interest in complex trauma and has spent a number of years helping clients process and come to a place of awareness and healing. Chantelle has had the opportunity to be an assistant teacher on a counselling course, which gave her a rich experience and a drive to transfer evidenced-based knowledge through teaching.
