Andrea Driver-Williams

Andrea is a lecturer in Adult Nursing within the School of nursing and Midwifery at Birmingham City University. As part of the module team on NUR6077 she helps teach the 3rd year students in delivering high-quality, person-centred care. As well as helping deliver the HIV session on NUR5080.

She graduated from Birmingham City University in 2014 with a 1st class BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing. During her time at university, she was part of the sTAMP team helping with interviewing and open days.

She has worked as an emergency nurse in Birmingham and through-out the UK, where she became competent in all areas of emergency nursing care including paediatric ED.

After a few years, she moved into Critical Care/ Intensive care nursing, working in one of the largest intensive care units in Europe. She worked in the following specialities: Liver & General, Neuro and Cardiac, working during the pandemic as a specialist ITU nurse.

She has also worked as a practice nursing, completing her training in all treatment room skills. Dealing with all members of the community from 6 weeks up to 90+ years old.

Her last role was as a HIV Clinical Nurse Specialist, with a strong interest in inpatient care and those with opportunist infections. Although she has a few areas of expertise, HIV is her passion and she has developed a keen interest this long-term condition and how to ensure the patients receive high-quality care.

She also has a big interest in Nurse Education and Pastoral Support for students and her aim is to support our students in reaching their potential, both as a student and in their future nursing careers.
