An accountancy student at Birmingham City University has been ranked in a top ten global list following her success in a taxation exam.
20 year-old Syahira Binti Md Nor studies the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) course at Birmingham City University’s Business School, which sees students undertake several exams on in-depth business and finance topics, including financial reporting and corporate law.
ACCA have more than 486,000 students worldwide and is recognised in 178 countries.
The global accountancy professional body hold four exam sittings each year and Syahira’s high score in the most recent tax exam ranks her 10th in the world.
“It is not a success only for myself but a gift for my parents and my lecturers too”, said Syahira, who comes from Malacca in Malaysia.
In the exam that Syahira aced, her tasks included calculating taxable incomes as well as demonstrating knowledge of how pension contributions are calculated and an awareness of tax deadlines.
