Birmingham City University's School of Jewellery enjoyed a successful evening at the Goldsmiths’ Crafts and Design Council Awards on Monday 24 February, landing the College Trophy for the fourth consecutive year.
The trophy is awarded each year to a college or university that achieves the highest total of points from any gold, silver and bronze awards in the competition.
Students and staff scooped nine accolades on the night – one Gold, five Silver and three Bronze awards. These recognise outstanding technical skill and design ability and can act as a launch pad for the careers of outstanding craftspeople within the industry.
Also known as the ‘Oscars of the industry’, the ceremony was a black tie event that took place on Monday 24 February at the historic Goldsmiths Hall in the City of London, attended by Head of the Institute of Jewellery, Fashion and Textiles Professor Stephen Bottomley, together with colleagues Jeremy Hobbins, Dauvit Alexander, Andrew Howard and Michela Ferarro-Cuda.
Head of the School of Jewellery Professor Stephen Bottomley said: “I am delighted that the school of Jewellery students and staff have successfully retained the GCDC college award for a magnificent fourth consecutive year.
