Nahida Mahmood

Senior Technical Administrator

School of Fashion and Textiles

Nahida loves that there are so many techniques and processes to play within embroidery, where for her it can be just as exciting an outcome from using just a needle and thread to using the latest technology of a big industrial, digital, multi-needle machine and lots in between.

Nahida works with domestic/freehand machines, embellishers, semi-digital, digital, single needle, multi-needle and smocking machines. Hand techniques – hand embroidery, silk shading, tambour, beading, blackwork, alternative beading and hand felting. She is also continually developing and learning new techniques.

Nahida’s particular interest is in machine embroidery but also loves hand embroidery too. A favourite is designing with digital software Wilcom and using the multi needles machine.
