Sian has a degree in Economics from Leeds University. She is the Course Director for the BA (Hons) Economics and Admissions Tutor for all Economics programmes at the university. Within the department of Accounting, Finance and Economics she is the co-ordinator of Assurance of Learning and is part of the accreditation team.

On graduating she joined Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young) in the Leeds Office as a trainee Chartered Accountant, qualifying in 1983. Sian moved to the Birmingham branch of Ernst & Young in 1987, and was promoted to Audit Manager, with a portfolio of small to medium size clients. She was also part of a larger teams looking after conglomerates such as Lucas PLC. During this period she became part of the national training team, conducting professional training programmes for new recruits to the firm as well as qualified staff.

Sian joined Sutton Coldfield College in 1995, and spent many years teaching on accounting courses, mainly at levels 4 and 5. She managed various accounting and HE programmes during her years at the college. She spent some time as the Quality Associate Director within the Business Directorate and was also deputy campus head of the Matthew Boulton Campus. During her last years at the college she managed all the Business & Law Directorate HE provision, working in closely with the college’s franchise partners: Birmingham City, Aston and Coventry Universities. 

Sian teaches management accounting on the accounting undergraduate programmes.
