Mohammad comes from a Civil Engineering background, which was obtained from Eastern Mediterranean University in North Cyprus in 2010. Following his undergraduate degree, Mohammad worked for a year in the industry, and came to England in 2011 to pursue an MSc degree in Project Management at Teesside University. In 2012, he was elected as the best project manager for the North East region of the UK. In 2016, he completed his PhD research in enhancing the delivery of Building Performance through the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) from Birmingham City University.
Mohammad joined Birmingham City University as a PhD student, looking at one of the current yet latest digital technologies within the construction industry, which is Building Information Modelling (BIM). The interdisciplinary nature of his research allowed knowledge cross-over, and unleashed further potentials towards both his research and knowledge facilitation within the School of Engineering and the Built Environment. During his PhD, Mohammad published many impactful conference and journal papers, which are being recognised both nationally and internationally. His PhD was completed in 2016.
Whilst working towards his PhD, Mohammad started teaching at BCU as a Visiting Lecturer focusing on embedding the use of BIM for different construction aspects within the teaching curriculum. His expertise includes the use of a variety of BIM-based software applications such as Revit (arch, MEP), Navisworks, Synchro ltd., CostX, and Revit 360. Within the programs that he teaches on, Mohammad continuously engages with industry and fellow researchers to ensure an up-to-date knowledge delivery.
Mohammad is part of a socio-technical research group where his focus is upon the complexity of incorporating stakeholders’ needs and requirements for buildings, and different information modelling approaches that support incorporating different perspectives.
