Culture lovers can get closer to Birmingham’s beating art in the city-wide initiative that takes place on Friday October 30 from 5-9pm and celebrates the ‘vibrant and refreshing art scene in the UK’s Second City’. Visitors to Parkside Gallery will be provided with complementary refreshments upon arrival, also included within a number of other selected venues, and a chance to explore the latest exhibition ‘Punk Rock, So What?’, presenting a series of controversial images surrounding the punk genre throughout the last 40 years. John Hall, Events and Exhibitions Manager at Parkside Gallery said:

The night will give the general public a chance to explore Birmingham City University’s state-of-the-art Parkside Building and strengthens the strong reputation surrounding art and design that graduates from the university have upheld. The evening also helps to maintain strong industry links for students and a chance to network with local influencers.

A special ‘Art Bus’ will be provided to ferry members of the public between six of the city’s best galleries including:

  • The Barber Institute of Fine Arts

  • Parkside Gallery

  • MAC Birmingham

  • Ikon

  • Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (Gas Hall only)

  • The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists

John Hall added:

‘Galleries Night’ has been organised to coincide with ‘Museums at Night’ – The UK’s festival for the culturally curious, which takes place twice a year between 30-31 October and 11-14 May. Margot HC Russell, one of last year’s May attendees said:

Search any of the listed galleries online to find out more about details and offers surrounding the evening and use the hashtag #artbusbrum to follow all the action as it unfolds.
