Architecture Students Create Community Sports Facility

The Burford Road elective provides the opportunity for M.Arch students at BIAD to work on a live project to create a community sports facility in the Kingstanding area of Birmingham.

The project has been initiated by Building Futures to enable young adults to gain NVQ qualifications through the construction of the new building, as well as providing a focus for sport and social activities in Kingstanding. The project will involve a number of partners including Birmingham City Council, Birmingham County FA, Football Futures and Birmingham City University. Elective students will submit a planning application in March 2011 and construction will start on site in October 2011 with completion by March 2012.
