Creativity and Culture

With nearly 6,000 of our 25,000 students enrolled on courses in Music, Theatre, Writing, Media, Digital Technology, or Art and Design, Birmingham City University is one of Britain’s leading providers of graduate talent to the cultural and creative industries.

Our internationally renowned arts training provision includes specialist conservatoires of music and acting; a leading media school; a school of English producing world-class research (REF 2014); and a significant UK centre for art, architecture and design education, including Europe’s largest jewellery school.

Global City of Culture

The University also supports Birmingham’s "Big City Culture" strategy, which promotes the city's world-class excellence in the arts, culture and creativity. Our Mission Statement for 2020 also states we will 'actively participate in the cultural and creative sectors of the city and region.'
