Based in the heart of the city
Both of our campuses are located in close proximity to Birmingham City Centre, and Birmingham is laid out in a way that means you’re never too far away from where you need to be. Being so close to the city centre also means you’re never at a loss for something to do in between lectures. Grab lunch, explore what the city has to offer, or even run errands if you want to make your commute to uni worthwhile!
Getting here by rail
Our City Centre Campus is a 15-minute walk from each of Birmingham’s three major train stations – Birmingham New Street (otherwise known as Grand Central), Moor St and Snow Hill. From there you can also get to our City South campus in just 12 minutes by bus - easy! You’ll find multiple trains an hour running from your local stations to one of these, particularly at peak times, meaning your commute will be a breeze at any hour of the day.
Alongside our massive train network, Birmingham also sits on the Midlands Metro tram line. This 14-mile stretch of track runs between Wolverhampton, the Jewellery Quarter (where our School of Jewellery is located), Birmingham City Centre and Edgbaston (where our City South Campus is located). The trams run from as early as 5 a.m. until midnight, with extended hours on weekends. At peak times, they run every 6 minutes, so they are a very reliable way of getting to and from home if you live near one of the 31 stops.
If you’re thinking of using the rail network to commute, it’s well worth looking into a 16-25 rail card, which offers discounted travel to students on local and national journeys. You can save 1/3 on all your tickets, with an average annual saving of £189, quids in!
Driving into the city
If you’re thinking of driving into Birmingham, you'll want to find the best and cheapest places to park. City parking can add up without a knowledge of the top spots, but with a bit of help, you can make your student finances go a long way. City centre parking can be as little as £2.10 for three hours, or £3 for a whole day. More parking top spots can be found here.
On your bike
Fancy saving some money and doing things the green way? Then cycling to campus is a great choice. We have plenty of bike racks at both of our campuses, so you’ll never be at a loss for somewhere safe to lock up your bike.
