Overseas opportunities

The chance to study abroad

As part of your degree, you can apply to study abroad at one of our partner universities worldwide as part of an exchange programme.

Trips and visits

We encourage overseas trips so our students can learn about important trends and develop links leading to possible work placements.

For example, our textile students get the chance to visit a key textiles trade fair, Premiere Vision in Paris, for an exciting week of creative research, trend-hunting and cultural exploration, with the opportunity to engage in some lucrative networking.

Design graduate Holly Jayne Smith was recently named winner of the first British Council International Residency Award.

The annual Award, which this year is hosted by Morocco, changes host countries every year and includes flights, accommodation and a tailor-made programme for up to a month.

The winner is judged on the quality of their work, the relevance of their practice, and their awareness of the importance of cultural heritage and relationships in fashion.

Holly’s winning collection featured high hats, bold prints, monochrome stripes and cut-out details

She will travel to Casablanca between October and November 2014, and will be hosted by Joseph Ouechen, Director of the Moroccan Association of Fashion designers, with a studio space provided by the Casa Moda Academy.

Spending time with the winners of the New Moroccan Talent Award, Holly will be producing a small capsule collection in response to her experiences in the country.
