With the long hours spent studying it’s easy to skip going to the gym or heading out for a run, but staying fit doesn’t need to be a chore and it can help keep your mind healthy for your studies.
Our BCU Sport team offer a variety of ways for you to stay active while studying, from competitive sports to weekly sessions – and it’s a great way to meet new people too!
Our sports teams perform in the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) leagues, competing against other universities on a weekly basis on top of training for two hours a week. Each team also receives specific support for development including strength and conditioning training, nutritional advice and coaching.
Our current BUCS teams are:
- Badminton (Men's and Women's)
- Men's Basketball
- Women's Basketball
- Cricket (Men's and Women's)
- Men's Football
- Women's Football and Futsal
- Men's Futsal
- Men's Hockey
- Women's Hockey
- Women's Netball
- Men's Rugby
- Women's Rugby
- Table Tennis
If you’re after a more casual way to keep fit but still play your favourite sports, our Active Wellbeing programme allows you to just turn up and play.
The team offers a range of sessions throughout the week for just £3 per session.
Train for an event
If you feel like you need an end goal as motivation, BCU Sport is pulling together teams to take part in both the Birmingham 10k and the Half Marathon.
Both events will be taking place on Sunday 1 May 2022 and we cannot wait to see the BCU running community amongst the crowd!
By registering for either event through BCU Sport, you’ll get access to nutrition support, sports therapy and your very own BCU running t-shirt to wear on the day.
Are you an elite athlete?
If you are currently competing at county level or higher, you may be eligible for our Sports Scholarship, which helps elite athletes to train alongside their studies.
