Accreditations and recognition

Our undergraduate and postgraduate social sciences courses have achieved international and national recognition from professional bodies.

Studying for an accredited course maximises your future employability options. They are often a requirement for further study and for qualification into some professions.

Psychology programmes must be professionally accredited and our undergraduate and Graduate Diploma courses in Psychology, plus the postgraduate MSc Forensic Psychology courses have British Psychological Society (BPS) accreditation. This means we are listed as an approved provider of the course.

Our Centre for Applied Criminology - founded by David Wilson, one of the UK's leading criminologists - is a University research Centre of Excellence.

One of the first modern universities to recognise the academic importance of criminal justice, our courses have been respected for their rigour and practical application since the 1980s.

We are the only university in the UK to offer a joint honours degree in Criminology and Security Studies.
