How to apply
Health Insurance
- All students are strongly advised to take out travel insurance before travelling to the UK.
- Urgent treatment or treatment that cannot safely wait until you leave the country and return home will always be provided. See government advice for details.
- EU and Switzerland: Visitors to the UK from the EU and Switzerland with a medical emergency may be able to use a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) issued by their home country. The EHIC is not an alternative to travel insurance. It will not cover any private medical healthcare, being flown back home, or lost or stolen property.
- Norway: Visitors to the UK from Norway will be able to access medically necessary care by presenting a valid Norwegian passport.
- Other countries: Visitors from Iceland, Liechtenstein and other international countries who have a medical emergency during a temporary stay in England may have to pay for NHS healthcare.
