International scholarships

Postgraduate Loyalty Scholarships We offer a range of scholarship opportunities for international postgraduates which you may be eligible to receive or apply for.

Please note that scholarships are only available to self-funding students.

Students are only eligible to receive ONE scholarship - whichever is greater.

The following list details all the courses that are exempt from a scholarship:

  • PhD
  • ACCA
  • Conservatoire and BSA courses
  • Top-ups for Masters courses
  • Short courses that are less than one academic year
  • Part-time or distance learning
  • Study Abroad programmes
  • Exchange programmes
  • FCEAP
  • Pre-sessional English
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL)

The following courses are exempt from this scholarship:

  • ACCA
  • Pre-Sessional English
  • PhD
  • BCUIC Foundation and Pre-Master programmes
  • GradCert in Jewellery and Related Products

Status: Open – scholarship offer will be made when we make you a course offer. 

Please note that scholarships are only available to self-funding students and those studying on a full time course for at least one academic year.

Postgraduate Scholarships – Non EU only

Every year we provide a number of scholarships recognising the talents of our international students, which will be applied towards the cost of your tuition fees.

All non-EU international students enrolling on a postgraduate course in September 2020 will be eligible for a scholarship of up to £2,000. This is awarded based on your academic background and your grade will need to be the equivalent to a UK degree:

  • £2,000 if a 1st degree holder
  • £1,500 if a 2:1 degree holder
  • £1,000 if a 2:2 degree holder
  • £500 if a 3rd degree holder

The following courses are exempt from this scholarship:

  • ACCA
  • Conservatoire courses (Music and Theatre)
  • PGCE and PCET
  • Masters in Teaching and Learning/Educational Leadership (MTL/MEL)
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses in Health

BCU Achievement Scholarship

Students who are graduating with a first or second class undergraduate degree from BCU are eligible for an Achievement Scholarship of up to £3,000 when they progress directly on to study a Master’s degree in September 2020 or January 2021.

Prompt Payment Discount

If you pay your tuition fees in full before travelling to, or during your enrolment in the UK, you will be entitled to a £300 prompt payment discount.

This discount applies to the amount you owe after any scholarships have been deducted from your tuition fee.

GREAT Scholarships 2021– Malaysia and Thailand

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Birmingham City University is offering 2 scholarships of £10,000 each to students from Thailand and Malaysia applying for postgraduate courses in Computing, Engineering and Built Environmental courses.

Art and Design Prize 2021 – South East and East Asia students

Birmingham City University is offering 3 Art and Design prizes of up to £3,000 to students from any of the following countries: Thailand, Taiwan, HK, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Vietnam. Students must hold an offer for one of our PG Art and Design courses for September 2021 entry.
