Every year we provide merit-based scholarships recognising the talents of our international students, which will be discounted against the cost of your tuition fees.
All international students enrolling on a postgraduate taught course in September 2021 and January 2022 will be eligible for a partial scholarship of up to £2,000 discounted from your tuition fees. This is awarded based on your academic background, and your grade will need to be the equivalent to a UK degree:
- £2,000 if a 1st class degree holder
- £1,500 if a Second Class (Upper Division) or 2:1 degree holder
- £1,000 if a Second Class (Lower Division) or 2:2 degree holder
- £500 if a 3rd class degree holder
The following courses are exempted from this scholarship:
- MSc Accounting & Finance (Top-Up)
- Conservatoire courses (Music and Theatre)
- PGCE and PCET
- Masters in Teaching and Learning/Educational Leadership (MTL/MEL)
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses in Health
Please note that scholarships are only available to self-funding students and those studying full-time for at least one academic year.
Prompt Payment Discount
If you pay your tuition fees in full and before travelling to or during your enrolment in the UK, you will be entitled to a £300 prompt payment discount. This scholarship is limited to September 2021 and January 2022 intakes only.
This discount applies to the amount you owe after any scholarships have been deducted from your tuition fee.

GREAT Scholarships 2021– Malaysia and Thailand
In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Birmingham City University offers two scholarships of £10,000 each to students from Thailand and Malaysia applying for postgraduate courses in Computing, Engineering and Built Environmental courses.
Art and Design Prize 2021 – South East and East Asia students
Birmingham City University offers 3 Art and Design prizes of up to £3,000 to students from any of the following countries: Thailand, Taiwan, HK, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Vietnam. Students must hold an offer for one of our PG Art and Design courses for September 2021 entry.
British Council Creative Economy Scholarships
We are delighted to announce that in partnership with the British Council, we will be offering 3x full tuition fee scholarships for the MA Arts and Project Management course through the Creative Economy scholarship programme to start in September 2021.
