MSc Public Health 2018 - 2019
Coming to Birmingham City University was one of the hardest decisions Basiru has ever made, but probably the one he feels most proud of. During his course, he has been through a lot of stress with his family back home, but his tutors never gave up on him. He thanks BCU for building his confidence and furthering his knowledge.
What did you enjoy the most about your course?
“Every part of the course has been enjoyable but the lectures have allowed us to explore ideas and the experiences have been unforgettable. For instance, the course provides unlimited opportunity to further your knowledge and understanding of public practice. It also provides a range of employment opportunities. The reason I chose this course in particular is because it provides a unique structure which suits my career pathway.”
“The course has definitely lived up to my expectations, in fact it went beyond my expectations as the lectures were so interesting and interactive. The tutors left no student behind. Some of them will not proceed with the lectures unless they are sure everyone is following and understanding. The quality of the course was way beyond my expectation. I feel I know much more about Public Health in general know and will be able to carry out public health duties better than I thought would.”
How did you find the support from staff?
“As previously mentioned, during the course I went through a lot of stress due to my family back home. However, none of my tutors ever gave up on me or made me feel like I was alone in this feeling. This helped so much with my anxieties and boosted my mood. My tutors showing me this kindness allowed me to never stay in a low mood for too long.”
What did you like about Birmingham City University?
“The list of what I like about Birmingham City University is endless. Through my course I have been able to grow into a strong person which I never thought was possible until I started. I have also been able to improve my interpersonal skills thanks to the diversity and interactive environment of the university.”
“Coming back to university to study has been a lot easier than I thought it would be, there has been a lot of reassurances from my tutors who were on hand 24/7. Anyone thinking about coming back to university, I would seriously advise them to come to BCU and transform their life.”
