Skills session day at EMAS

Our paramedic team work very closely with East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) as our practice partners for placements for our BSc Hons Paramedic Science students. Paramedic Science tutor, Michael, and some of the Clinical Practice Tutors arranged a skills session day at one of EMAS educational centres (Meridian Education Centre, in Leicester).

What was the purpose of the day?

The purpose of this day was for second year students to attend and practice clinical skills (not commonly exposed to within placement) in a realistic environment under supervision of the Clinical Practice Tutors, Michael and Practice Educators (students mentors) in respect of competency sign-off within their portfolio.

What activities took place?

The day was a great opportunity four our students to develop new skills and experience new learning environments, and they commented that they found the day incredibly beneficial.

It has strengthened the partnership working between the Paramedic team at BCU and our practice partners in EMAS and we look forward to doing more sessions similar in future.
