Social Work student - Sue Brookes
We spoke to Sue during her first year to find out what it had been like:
"You’ve made a great choice applying for social work!
I know the next couple of months can be a bit scary if you’re waiting on results and preparing for university but, trust me, this is a great place to be!
Your time here is all about you and what you make it. The more you put in, the more you will get out and have the most amazing time along the way!
After driving in, I arrive in Birmingham and meet up with some fellow Social Work students for morning coffee at Philpotts, before taking a 20-minute stroll into Uni.
I arrive at Uni and meet up with more students for a catch-up before classes start.
Quick chat with tutors as they wander past to start their day, then it’s off to class ready to start at 9am.
Head to The Social Kitchen, the Students’ Union café bar, for an early lunch.
Back to class, and then on to the library for group work.
Classes are finished for the day, but it’s back to the library for me so I can grab some books before I begin the journey home.
