Placements
There's no better way to prepare for work than to experience it first-hand. That’s why we put so much time and dedication into our Business Placements Scheme.
You'll work alongside our Careers+ team to find the perfect company and role for you. It's the best way to gain a clear advantage over the competition, building your experience and your confidence by putting theory into practice in a real business environment.
Who can do a placement year?
Anyone! Each of our full time undergraduate degree courses are available as a professional placement course and we encourage every student to take their third year as a placement year (making the degree a four-year course in total).
By choosing to take this route you will graduate as a highly employable, experienced professional with the competitive advantage of progressing from your work placement directly into your chosen career. You'll have work experience relevant to your career that you wouldn't have on a standard degree.
Undergraduate placement opportunities are advertised to our students any time between September and the following August.

Placement Quotes
"I undertook a placement year at Volkswagen because I thought it would enhance my employability prospects after I graduate. Potential employers will look at my CV and see that I have already completed a year’s experience in a job role relating to my degree, which will stand me in good stead when I graduate."
Christopher Cocksedge, BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance
"I did a placement year in London at Bosch. My role was a Sales and Marketing Intern, which was great because it is the field I would like to go into in the future. I strongly believe a placement year is very beneficial because it teaches you to become more independent and allows you to work in a professional environment for the first time. I had the opportunity to be involved in and manage different marketing projects and create content for both online and in stores. This was fantastic because I was able to apply the marketing knowledge that I gained at BCU during my placement. I would highly recommend doing a placement year."
