Accounting - My Three Reasons Why

3 Reasons Why Aisha Tanveer 300x200 Why should you consider applying to study at Birmingham City Business School?

You've probably already heard about our practice based learning, our unique relationship with the city we're in, and our newly upgraded facilities, but what do our students think are the selling points for their courses?

So we asked Aisha, a second year Accounting and Finance student, to give us three reasons why she chose to join Birmingham City Business School.

Endless resources

As a student who didn’t have an accounting background, I initially thought I would find it difficult at the beginning. But this course, from the very start, teaches you the basics which allows you to progress to an advanced level at a suitable pace for you. By having endless resources such as workbooks, revision materials and exam-style questions, I am able to perform to the best of my abilities.

Assessment variety

I enjoy the balance of self-study and group work this course offers; an example includes an instance during my Business Foundation Module where we had to design, launch and operate a hotel by taking part in a trade fair, participating in a pitch similar to those on Dragon’s Den. There are also trips alongside this course such as going to Jaguar Land Rover where we enhanced our academic knowledge related to our coursework, as well as enjoying a great day out.

Additional qualifications

During our Financial Information Systems module, we were given the opportunity to work and gain a CIMA accredited certificate for Sage - industry-standard, professional accounting software – as well as the opportunity to gain a certificate in Microsoft programmes. BCU also offers the Graduate+ scheme, where you can participate in extra-curriculum activities to enhance your skills for employment, making your time at BCU unique.

Good luck with your application and hope to see you see next year!
