Realising Innovative Student Enterprise (RISE)

Enterprise@BCU 700x300 - A light bulb above young entrepreneurs

Are you a student with a Business idea? Need help to turn it into a reality?

Realising Innovative Student Enterprise (RISE) is a free, startup support programme for students with an exciting business idea.

RISE provides;

Business Boot Camps

Explore your idea further within our three day business boot camp. During boot camp we’ll challenge you to think more deeply about your idea, your motivation as well as how you can build value. We’ll encourage deeper exploration of your business ideas and we’ll get you refining your thinking about who your customers are, your product and / or service and how you can build value.

Hackathon Events

Our Hackathon events are designed all around you. Got a great idea but need additional expertise? You’ll have the opportunity to showcase your idea, meeting and discussing your plans with other students who may have the skills that you need and who may also be interested in being on your team.

Mentoring

You will be assigned a mentor with considerable real – world business experience. Have a new idea and would like to run it by someone? Simple – ask your mentor. Have a problem that you’re struggling to overcome? Your mentor can provide guidance. In short your business mentor is your ‘critical friend’ in business who helps to ensure that whilst you’re planning to go into business for yourself, that you don’t need to do it by yourself!

Proof of Concept Support

You have a great idea but is it a great commercial opportunity? Get the support and skills to be able to test the feasibility of your planned venture before you start.

Events & Networking

Participating in our events and networking can really help to kick – start your new venture. If you haven’t attended a networking event previously they can sound daunting but they really aren’t and the potential benefits are huge; Share ideas with other enterprising students, listen to guest speakers sharing their real – world experiences and meet potential new members of your team.

Access to Funding

Getting hold of startup capital is one of the biggest challenges faced by new entrepreneurs but did you know that as of April 2020 there were over 200 small business grants and funding programmes here in the UK? We can help to steer you in the right direction.

Startup Spaces

Get access to designated spaces where you can further develop your ideas through prototyping, interaction with other entrepreneurial students and through engaging with experts. Also, once your business is up and running, enjoy specialist incubation space to fuel your business growth!
