Taylor Lantelli

Taylor Lantelli profile picture Hey I'm Taylor, a Graphic Communication student at Birmingham City University. A lover of everything minimal & brightly coloured, mainly pink!

I enjoy all kinds of art and design and I would consider myself more of a 'maker' because I love creating tangible objects. In terms of graphic design my real passion lies in anything print and editorial. I find publications fascinating as I view every page as a separate piece of artwork. I wouldn't consider myself an illustrator, but illustration in its many forms have begun to creep into my work.

I try to combine my love of crafts and making with print design as much as possible and I hope people enjoy viewing my pieces as much as I do making them!

'This is' is a newspaper created by myself and other graphics students on the Visual Communication course at Birmingham City University. We created this newspaper to showcase talent on the Viscom course and to introduce students to local professionals in the industry. This piece successfully achieved funding from the University to send it to print.

The creative solution for this brief was to create a dynamic and colourful design using the Birmingham City University brand guidelines to aid the layout of the brochure. The sophisticated and current design should inspire all ages and abilities to join the summer short courses.

I was commissioned by a student in the Birmingham Conservatoire to design a CD cover for her final show of the year. The piece was called 'Dies Natalies' which translates as 'Day of Birth'. I explored the idea of seeds and growth which then led to a more abstract concept of constellations and birthstones.

Penguin Random House Design Awards 2016Penguin Random House Design Awards 2016

This was my submission for the Penguin Random House Design Awards for 2016, in the adult non-fiction category. I developed this concept by thinking of ways of communicating naivety and being female. The book itself tries to push away from stereotypes, so I felt a collage style scrap book cover that was designed as if it was the child before she became a woman, would work well.
