Covid-19 continues to have an impact on our research community, and this affects postgraduate research (PGR) students, academic colleagues and the delivery of funded and unfunded research projects.
The University has set out a roadmap outlining a phased, priority-based approach to restarting research on our campuses. This timeline will be flexible and will be reviewed in line with government guidance.
Priority 1 Research
Priority 1 Research incorporates research where continued delay would be damaging to the researcher, research, outcome, reputation or finances.
This may include:
- a research degree programme award or funded research project
- PGR and academic staff studying for a doctorate
- unfunded collaborative research linked directly to Covid-19
- academic staff with WAMS RA or WAMS postdoc allowance.
Priority 2 Research
Priority 2 Research is research where a continued delay is undesirable for the researcher, research, outcome or reputation.
This typically includes:
- an unfunded research project collaboration with another HEI or organisation
- research by academic staff with WAMS RA or WAMS post-doc allowance which does not fall into the Priority 1 category.
Priority 3 Research
This category includes research activity that could be further delayed with little or no material detriment to the researcher, research, outcome or institution.
This includes all research by academic staff with WAMS RA or WAMS post-doc allowance which does not meet the Priority 1 or Priority 2 definition.
