Applications and Interventions in Positive Psychology

Led by Dr Helen Egan, this group aims to explore aspects of positive psychology and how these can be applied in number of interventions across many areas of psychology.

Specific areas of expertise include:

  • Mindfulness
  • Compassion
  • Self-compassion
  • Acceptance and commitment therapy
  • Creative problem solving

Interventions using the above concepts and constructs are being applied to many areas of life, currently including:

  • Eating behaviours (general population)
  • Eating behaviours for people with Long Term Conditions (LTC)
  • Eating behaviours in Weight Management Programmes
  • Mental health and well being
  • Health of health professionals
  • Student experience and academic attainment
  • Online Use of mindfulness meditation apps (Including ‘deviant’ and stigmatised groups)
  • Multimedia multitasking, can mindfulness improve performance
