Matthew Kimberley
Dr Matt Kimberley is a lecturer within the Department of Psychology and Counselling, where he leads the Gender, sexuality and intimate relationships research cluster. His own research expertise broadly centres around sexual communication; fantasy and desire; sexual subcultural identity; and inequalities linked to sexuality or relationship diversity. Prior to joining Birmingham City University, they lectured at Staffordshire University whilst completing their PhD. This work focused on examining the factors associated with the disclosure of sexual fantasies within intimate relationships.
Matt also contributes to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses across the Department of Psychology and Counselling, where he often shares his own research and incorporates critical social psychological perspectives to explore social phenomena. He also contributes to research ethics at a Departmental and School level, through his involvement in the DREC and in his role as departmental MSc ethics lead and Deputy chair of the School of Life and Health Sciences ethics committee.
