Dr Ensiyeh Farrokhirad is a postdoctoral researcher with a Ph.D. in Sustainable Technology in Architecture from the University of Naples Federico II, where she focused on integrating sustainable design strategies with urban resilience principles. She also served as a visiting researcher at Hochschule Neubrandenburg, Germany, gaining international experience in ecological design and energy optimisation.

Ensiyeh began her career in the UK as a Research Fellow at the Sustainable Living Research Centre at the University of Huddersfield, leading projects on climate adaptation, sustainable housing, and community engagement. With over a decade of academic, research, and design experience, she specialises in creating resilient, energy-efficient, and inclusive urban environments that foster both environmental performance and social equity.

Her expertise spans sustainable architecture, urban resilience, energy optimisation, and nature-based solutions, with proficiency in tools such as EnergyPlus, ENVI-met. She has organised symposiums and workshops on climate change and sustainable living and delivered innovative teaching in ecological engineering and urban design.

Her research portfolio includes groundbreaking work on Passive House overheating risks and green infrastructure solutions and community engagement as well as a strong advocacy for place-based approaches in urban development. She believes that truly sustainable, smart, and green cities must be tailored to the specific needs, contexts, and challenges of local communities.
