We are one of the leading research centres and have a proven track record in producing internationally excellent research in a number of diverse areas. Our current projects include 'Sorting, Translating and Disseminating Citizen Reporting in the Arab Region' and ‘“Go Home”: Mapping the unfolding controversy of Home Office Immigration Campaigns’.
- Dr Kirsten Forkert has an industrial background in media criticism and curation and explored the conditions experienced by freelance artists in London and Berlin in her PhD thesis. She researches the politics of cultural work and education is currently exploring the cultural politics of austerity
- Dr Paul Long is part of the AHRC-funded project 'Cultural Intermediation and the Cultural Economy', where he researches the relationship of 'hard to reach' communities within the cultural sector and has also worked on issues in music heritage and digital archiving
- Dr Oliver Carter shares Paul Long's interest in the politics of archival practice, and is currently investigating online archives of pornographic material based on his work around fan practices and fan production
- Dr Dima Saber, who leads projects in citizen journalism in the Arab region, has a focus on the role of digital media in fostering social change, as does Professor of Music Industries Innovation
- Andrew Dubber is using his widely-published work on the digital technology in the music industries to investigate how communities are organising themselves around music creation and industrial practices.
