University Open Day gets the red carpet treatment

Visitors to this weekend’s Open Day at Birmingham City University are being invited to the movie premiere of ‘This is BCU’, a short-film charting the student journey from application to graduation.

Birmingham City University has joined forces with the Giant Screen at Millennium Point so viewers will be able to watch the film with stunning, digitally presented clarity, on a massive screen and with a sophisticated sound system.

And for those who are attending the Open Day at the University’s City North Campus in Perry Barr won’t miss out, as they too will be able to watch one of the first screenings of the film, being projected onto a mobile large television screen positioned outside the Doug Ellis Sports Centre.

Dan Hughes, Open Day Organiser, said: “Our movie premiere looks set to be one of the highlights at this weekend’s open days. Not only will our prospective students be able to find out more about courses on offer at BCU but they’ll also have the chance to see ‘This is BCU’ and see for themselves what it’s like to be a BCU student.

“The film will give a real insight into student experiences, featuring clips from ‘Starting-Out at BCU’, a fly-on-the-wall docu-soap following first-year students as they embark on Freshers Week 2012. The film will also be educational and informative, containing a wealth of useful tips and advice on everything from applying to university, to financing your degree, and how to make the most of your University years.”

The Birmingham City University Open Days take place on Friday 5th October and Saturday 6th October, 9am until 3pm.

The showing times of ‘This is BCU’ are:

  • Friday 5th October, 2pm & 2.30pm
  • Saturday 6th October, 1.45 & 2.15pm.
