An expert from Birmingham City University’s School of English has taken on a consulting role for an upcoming feature film.

Produced by Free Range Films and in collaboration with Film4, Le Weekend stars Jim Broadbent and Lindsay Duncan who play a long-married British couple from Birmingham trying to reinvigorate their marriage by visiting Paris for the first time since their honeymoon.

The film, backed by Curzon and the British Film Institute (BFI) also stars Jeff Goldblum, who has starred in major box-office successes including Jurassic Park and Independence Day.

Mark Addis, Professor of Philosophy at Birmingham City University, said: “Being asked to advise on the film was really interesting and fun. I became involved because the central character is a philosopher. It was a real pleasure to meet Jim Broadbent, Hanif Kureishi, and Roger Michell as I know their work”.

Le Weekend is being directed by Roger Michell, director of Notting Hill and Enduring Love and is due for release later this year.
