The University has seen its popularity increase with a rise in the number of visitors to its Open Days held in June.
What people thought of our Open Days
Around 1,600 prospective students visited the University compared to 1,513 in 2009, which itself was a 24% increase on 2008. The Open Days were spread over two days, Friday 18 & Saturday 19 June.
The University opened up all campuses so visitors were able to get the most from the Open Days. The new Doug Ellis Sports Centre was showcased as the welcome and registration venue for visitors to the University’s City North campus in Perry Barr. A sophisticated scanning process was also piloted to fast-track visitors and prevent queues. Highlights of the Open Days include a talk by noted Criminologist, Professor David Wilson, exhibitions of the work of Birmingham Institute of Art and Design students at the University's Gosta Green site and healthcare demonstrations at the Faculty of Health at its City South Campus, Edgbaston.
The open Days allowed prospective students to meet tutors and ask them in-depth questions about the courses the University offers and view student accommodation.
The next Open Days follow the release of A Level results and the start of the ‘Clearing’ process, and will be held on Saturday 21 and Wednesday 25 August. There will be further Open Days on Friday 8 October and Saturday 9 October.
