The Employability Team
The Computing, Engineering, and the Built Environment (CEBE) Employability Team supports students to gain internships and placements in roles related to their course in order to improve their employability when they complete their degree.
What we do:

Liaise and work with local and national employers to source and promote opportunities.

Provide 1:1 support to students, which includes CV and application advice, running mock interviews and advising on assessment centres and psychometric tests.

Run group sessions for students and organise sessions with employers on campus.

David Bond
CEBE Faculty Employability Manager. David has over 10 years’ experience working within careers, recruitment and employability. He also looks after the Faculty International Travel Scholarship programme which he is passionate about because of his experience living and working in Thailand, Japan and Ukraine.

Shanna Hardy
Employability Project Officer. Shanna specialises in working with students who are studying for a variety of degrees within the Faculty of CEBE. In particular, she works with students who require additional support with enhancing their employability skills and searching for industry-specific work experience.

Lowenna Mistry
Faculty Employability Adviser. Lowenna focuses on working with students in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment. She has previously worked on projects within Birmingham and The Black Country supporting young people who have been long term unemployed get back into employment and further training.

Jon Baldwyn
Faculty Employability Adviser. Jon focuses on working with students in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment. He has worked at Birmingham City University for over 18 years and has a wide range of experience of working with academics, employers and students as well as coordinating the CEBE Erasmus programmes.
